«We pursue a dual approach of gender mainstreaming across our diverse areas of work and targeted activities under our Gender and Economy Programme. We assist our member States in implementing internationally agreed commitments to women's empowerment and gender equality and provide a regional platform for policy-oriented research and dialogue through expert group meetings, workshops and regional conferences.
Building on the first Gender Action Plan (GAP) for 2012-2013, UNECE has approved its GAP for 2014-2015. It identifies the specific gender dimension where UNECE can best add value given its mandate on gender mainstreaming and promoting gender equality in its areas of work. The UNECE GAP 2014-2015 provides the framework for a more focused approach to the consideration of gender in the UNECE Subprogrammes of work with the aim to implement its policy on gender equality and the empowerment of women as part of the UN System-Wide Action Plan (SWAP) for gender equality».
