Comecemos por dizer que a  brochura da imagem, de 1995,  foi reimpressas em 2014. «Foreword | Twenty years after the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action was adopted by 189 Member States meeting in China, its stature and significance as a roadmap for the achievement of gender equality remains undiminished. This pivotal document continues to guide the global struggle against constraints and obstacles to the empowerment of women around the world. In the face of new forces threatening to curtail the rights of women and girls, we must return to the agenda set by the Platform for Action and renew our commitment to carry it out in full. This milestone anniversary coincides with the once-in-a-generation opportunity presented in 2015. During this single year, we must do our utmost to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, adopt a post-2015 agenda with a new generation of sustainable development goals, and approve a meaningful, universal climate agreement. As we look ahead to creating a more sustainable, inclusive and peaceful world, I applaud the visionary leadership of those who crafted the Platform for Action and urge a new generation of gender equality advocates to join me in advancing this cause. When we empower women and girls, we will realize a better future for all».

Neste ano a ONU  traz  para  o Dia Internacional da Mulher 2015  tema  relacionado com a Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Pode ler-se:

«In 2015, International Women’s Day, celebrated globally on 8 March, will highlight the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a historic roadmap signed by 189 governments 20 years ago that sets the agenda for realizing women’s rights. While there have been many achievements since then, many serious gaps remain.

This is the time to uphold women’s achievements, recognize challenges, and focus greater attention on women’s rights and gender equality to mobilize all people to do their part. The Beijing Platform for Action focuses on 12 critical areas of concern, and envisions a world where each woman and girl can exercise her choices, such as participating in politics, getting an education, having an income, and living in societies free from violence and discrimination.

To this end, the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is the clarion call of UN Women’s Beijing+20 campaign “Empowering Women, Empowering Humanity: Picture it!” Join governments and activists across the world in commemorating the ground-breaking Conference of 1995. We celebrate the many achievements that have come since then and galvanize action to address the gaps that still remain in making gender equality a reality». Ver aqui.

e num outro formato, entre muitas possibilidades, aqui, onde se pode ler: «As Nações Unidas têm desempenhado papel fundamental na promoção da situação e dos direitos da mulher em todo o mundo. Essa contribuição assume várias formas, desde a promoção do debate à negociação de instrumentos juridicamente vinculantes. A criação de espaços de diálogo tem ampliado a visibilidade do tema e a conscientização sobre a situação de discriminação e inferioridade em que se encontram as mulheres em várias esferas da vida social, em quase todos os países. A negociação de compromissos e de acordos internacionais, como a Convenção sobre a Eliminação de Todas as Formas de Discriminação contra a Mulher, tem incidido diretamente sobre a legislação e as políticas públicas nos países-membro. As conferências mundiais sobre a mulher constituíram marcos inquestionáveis nesse processo. A IV Conferência das Nações Unidas sobre a Mulher, realizada em Pequim, em setembro de 1995, foi sem dúvida a maior e a mais importante delas: pelo número de participantes que reuniu, pelos avanços conceituais e programáticos que propiciou, e pela influência que continua a ter na promoção da situação da mulher. Intitulada “Ação para a Igualdade, o Desenvolvimento e a Paz”, a Conferência de Pequim partiu de uma avaliação dos avanços obtidos desde as conferências anteriores (Nairobi, 1985; Copenhague, 1980; e México, 1975) e de uma análise dos obstáculos a superar para que as mulheres possam exercer r plenamente seus direitos e alcançar seu desenvolvimento integral como pessoas.
