«The European Week of Action for Girls is an annual week-long event which aims to ensure that girls’ empowerment is promoted and their rights are protected and fulfilled in the EU’s external action, through adequate policies, funding and programs. The 2017 edition of the week takes place from 9 – 13 October. The centrepiece of the week will be the inaugural European Week of Action for Girls “Girls Summit” which will take place on 11 October to mark the International Day of the Girl Child.Held under the headline theme of girls’ empowerment, “Girls can…”, the European Week of Action for Girls 2017 will demonstrate what girls can achieve when their rights are respected and protected.
