History Month, we've joined the National Museum of Women in the Arts as they
champion women artists across the globe through their #5WomenArtists
campaign.
As part of this, we've announced five major solo exhibitions of women artists! You can look forward to seeing Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, Paula Rego, Magdalena Abakanowicz, Maria Bartuszová and Haegue Yang – all coming to Tate in 2020-21! Plus, from next month Tate Britain presents 'Sixty Years' - a free display of British women artists from 1960 to the present day. |

desenvolvido em defesa dos direitos das mulheres ao longo dos seus 50 anos de
existência”
Terá lugar amanhã, Dia Internacional
da Mulher, a cerimónia de entrega da Medalha de Mérito Municipal da Câmara
Municipal de Lisboa ao Movimento Democrático de Mulheres.
É com muita honra que o MDM recebe
esta distinção no Dia Internacional da Mulher, data história da luta das
mulheres pela igualdade, direitos, justiça social, contra a guerra e pela paz,
“pelo trabalho desenvolvido em defesa dos direitos das mulheres ao longo dos
seus 50 anos de existência”.
Num tempo em que os direitos e a
condição das mulheres sofrem tantos revezes, o reconhecimento do papel e da
luta persistente e continuada do MDM na defesa dos direitos e da dignidade das
mulheres, constitui um importante estimulo ao trabalho e à luta pela
Igualdade na vida que urge alcançar para todas as mulheres do nosso país.
O MDM estende este reconhecimento às
sucessivas gerações de mulheres que têm construído, ao longo de muitas décadas,
a acção do Movimento em prol da emancipação das mulheres em Portugal e em todo
o mundo».
HOJE DIA INTERNACIONAL DAS MULHERES 2019 | «Can You name five women artists?»
«Since 2016, the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) has been asking this question on social media each March during Women’s History Month using the hashtag #5WomenArtists. The campaign calls attention to the fact that women have not been treated equally in the art world, and today they remain dramatically underrepresented and undervalued in museums, galleries, and auction houses.So far, more than 1,000 cultural institutions from seven continents and 47 countries, plus over 10,000 individuals have participated!». TATE x NMWA Collaboration: Additionally, this year NMWA has teamed up with the Tate to expand the reach of #5WomenArtists as part of Tate’s ongoing commitment to increase the representation of women across the arts sector and within its galleries. In addition to hosting dedicated events during March and sharing the campaign across its digital channels, Tate staff members met colleagues at NMWA to collaborate on leveraging digital engagement for social change.

A CAMINHO DO 8 MARÇO 2019 | «A Mulher Nas Colecções do Arquivo Fotográfico da CME» | 7 A 30 MARÇO 2019 | ÉVORA
«A exposição enquadra-se nas comemorações do Dia Internacional da Mulher e tem como fonte o amplo acervo do Arquivo Fotográfico da CME.
O conjunto de fotografias expostas - reproduções digitais de negativos a preto e branco - resulta da pesquisa de sinais de narrativas e imagens iconográficas do tema nas diferentes coleções do Arquivo Municipal, remetendo para a perceção e representação da imagem da mulher nos últimos 150 anos.
A seleção das imagens, que se quis o mais abrangente possível, teve em conta as diferentes coleções do Arquivo, e uma preocupação cronológica que permite acompanhar o estatuto da mulher nos diferentes períodos históricos e na obra dos vários fotógrafos. Maria Eugénia Reya Campos, Ricardo Santos, José Pedro Braga Passaporte, Ricardo Santos, Estevão de Oliveira Fernandes, Francisco Manuel Fialho, Mário da Gama Freixo, Joaquim da Silva Nogueira (Photo Brasil), Eduardo Nogueira, David Freitas, António Passaporte, Marcolino Silva, Paulo Nuno Silva revelam-nos testemunhos do dia-a-dia, dificuldades do mundo do trabalho e da afirmação das mulheres num universo masculino; trazendo para o discurso expositivo a burguesa do séc. XIX, a mulher confinada ao espaço doméstico, as operárias fabris das primeiras unidades industriais da região, as camponesas alentejanas e das serras algarvias, as primeiras empregadas de serviços, as artistas dos palcos lisboetas e eborenses, as funcionárias da autarquia de Évora, ou as mulheres anónimas que o olhar de cada fotógrafo soube enobrecer». A CAMINHO DO 8 MARÇO 2019 | «Women's Power in Politics» | 7 MARÇO 2019 | PARLAMENTO EUROPEU | BRUXELAS
«On 7 March 2019, FEMM, in collaboration with the Directorate for Relations with National Parliaments, will organise an Inter-parliamentary Committee Meeting on "Women's Power in Politics". The event will take place in the European Parliament in Brussels, from 09.00 to 12.30.
The topic chosen this year is at the heart of women's rights because it defines women's capacity to participate and decide on the collective governing of our societies. Equality between women and men is one of the objectives of the European Union. Over time, legislation, case law and changes to the Treaties have helped shore up this principle and its implementation in the EU. The European Parliament has always been a fervent defender of gender equality and this event wants to highlight the importance of women presence in politics particularly in the framework of the coming European elections». In celebration of International Women’s Day (8 March 2019), the Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative is pleased to invite stock exchanges to host a bell ringing ceremony to raise awareness of the pivotal role the private sector can play in advancing gender equality to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 5.The UN Global Compact, UN Women, Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative, International Finance Corporation: IFC, World Federation of Exchanges and Women in ETFs (the “Global Partners”) are working together for the 5th consecutive year, following a very successful collaboration in 2018 where 65 exchanges participated in the “Ring the Bell” events.
These global ‘bell ringings’ aim to bring attention to the pivotal role the private sector can play in advancing gender equality to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and to raise awareness about the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs). We are delighted that 10 exchanges are signatories to the WEPs as part of their commitment to promoting gender equality, with another three exchanges in the process of joining them. SSE members are also working to scale up their actions on gender equality by promoting transparency of relevant metrics, organizing trainings on board diversity, and encouraging their listed companies to sign the WEPs».
