Este pequeno filme passou no encerramento da CSW61 e sobre ele como pode ver-se aqui foi dito:

We are all “Alem”. This short film illustrates the significance of the work that we have done together, and the agreements we have reached. We are taking steps to make sure that Alem and her brothers will have equal opportunities, that her mother will understand that all the children need her support, and that she needs support too.  The father’s employer will make sure that he can be home, so that maybe the father can take the baby outside, allowing Alem and her two brothers to sit and enjoy the scholarship application movie. Investment in infrastructure for energy,  or water and sanitation will reduce the responsibility of care on the mother who we saw doing washing outside, so that she too has an opportunity to earn a living if she chooses to outside the home, and the overall quality of life of the family is enhanced. «Em declaração na abertura da 61ª Comissão sobre o Status da Mulher, realizada na semana passada, o secretário-geral da ONU, António Guterres, afirmou que “em um mundo dominado pelos homens, o empoderamento feminino deve ser uma prioridade internacional”.

“Precisamos de mais mulheres líderes. E nosso mundo precisa de mais homens defendendo a igualdade de gênero”, destacou.

Guterres observou que o empoderamento feminino é sobre a quebra de barreiras estruturais. “Com quase 1 bilhão de mulheres entrando na economia global na próxima década, o empoderamento liberará o potencial de todas essas mulheres e meninas, e elas levarão o mundo a um novo futuro.”

Segundo o secretário-geral, a igualdade das mulheres ainda pode adicionar 12 trilhões de dólares ao crescimento global na próxima década.

Ele falou ainda sobre a importância da participação das mulheres nos processos de paz. De acordo com o chefe da ONU, quando as mulheres estão envolvidas em missões de paz, as chances de se alcançar a paz sobem para 35%.

Atualmente, Guterres afirmou que as operações de paz das Nações Unidas contam com apenas 3% de mulheres.

“Peço aos Estados-membros que aumentem o nível de participação feminina em suas tropas”, disse.

Em discurso no evento, a diretora-executiva da ONU Mulheres, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, destacou um lento progresso na igualdade de gênero.

“Os desenvolvimentos positivos muito necessários não estão acontecendo rápido o suficiente”, ressaltou». Continue a ler.

«MANDATE OF THE COMMISSION 

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), a functional commission of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), is a global policy-making body dedicated exclusively to promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women. The Commission was established by ECOSOC resolution 11(II) of 21 June 1946 with a mandate to prepare recommendations on promoting women’s rights in political, economic, civil, social and educational fields. The Commission is also responsible for monitoring, reviewing and appraising progress achieved and problems encountered in the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action of 1995 and of the outcomes of the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly of 2000, at all levels, and to support gender mainstreaming. The Commission also contributes to the follow-up to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development so as to accelerate the realization of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. (...)».
